Ernest Gilomen

Ernest R. Gilomen, 77, of Rome died on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 in Peoria. Ernest was born on January 15, 1940 in Peoria, the son of Ernest O. and Patricia (Julien) Gilomen. He married Janet Nauman on July 21, 1962 in Metamora. She survives. Also surviving is: one daughter, Theresa (Larry) Lanier of Peoria; one son, Douglas (Denna) Gilomen of Mustang, OK; four grandchildren, Jacob, Brittany, Brandon, and Tyler; three brothers, David (Joan) Gilomen of Venice, FL, Gordon (Kathy) Gilomen of Canton, NC, and Dennis Gilomen of Tucker, GA; and two sisters, Joy (Dick) Lehnhoff of Winsbore, SC, and Mary. He was preceded in death by his parents. Ernest worked at Caterpillar for 36 years before retiring in 1995. Ernie was a member of the Illinois National Guard, serving in the Chicago Riots. He was also a member of the Volunteer Fire Department serving the Rome, Chillicothe, and Mossville areas, attaining the rank of Assistant Chief. Family would like to extend a thank you to the staff of Legacy at Evergreen Place. A memorial mass will be held for Ernest on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church in Peoria. Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation with the family one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date.
