Edith M. Hezlep, age 82, of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Edith was born on December 4, 1938 in Hot Springs, Montana to Bert Shuey and Violet Ferano.
Surviving are her two sons, Benny (Susan) Worrick and Timothy R. Worrick, both of Chillicothe; two grandchildren, Amber Worrick of Nashville, TN and Christopher (Darcy) Worrick of Germantown Hills, IL; and two great-grandchildren, Cody and Austin Worrick. Also surviving are two brothers, Paul Shuey and Steven Shuey; and one sister, Evelyn Shuey, all of Montana. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; one sister; and two grandchildren, Meagan Worrick and Timothy Benjamin Worrick.
Edith, more commonly known as Edie, loved spending time with her companion of 35 years, Wilbur Stoecker. They enjoyed watching NASCAR, traveling and doing daily puzzles. Edie was an expert seamstress, quilter and knitter. She also made hundreds of bears for the hospital as well as making gifts for family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening, baking and spending time with her little dog, Princess. Edie retired from Caterpillar after 28 years of service.
Her family is grateful for the love and wisdom she brought to their lives and will miss her very much.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a graveside service will be held on Monday, March 22, 2021 at 1pm at Chillicothe City Cemetery. Memorials in her honor may be made to the Chillicothe First United Methodist Church or PAWS. Arrangements are under the care of Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
