Amy Gries

Amy Ann Gries, 49, of West Peoria passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at her home. Amy was born July 17, 1967 in Peoria, the daughter of Louis J. and Cynthia S. (Harbaugh) Gries. She was preceded in death by her mother. Surviving is her father and step-mother, Eulonda; one sister, Christie (Rob) Aldrich of Chillicothe; one brother, Steve Gries of Sparland; two step-sisters, Ladona (Brad) Stork of Varna and Jo (Steve) Shoemaker of Lincoln; one step-brother, Marty (Kim) Piette of Green Bay, WI; one niece, Faith Aldrich; and one nephew, Jace Aldrich. Amy worked for the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria in the Department of Cancer Biology and Pharmacology as an Office Manager. She also worked for St. Augustine Manor in Peoria as an Activities Director. Amy was also active in churches throughout her life, attending St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria. She loved the outdoors, reading, collecting rocks and shells, and arts and crafts of all kinds. A funeral will be held for Amy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lacon. Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation with the family the evening prior on Friday, March 24, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
