Dr. Alfredo A. Alcocer, 94, of Peoria passed away on Friday, December 18, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Dr. Alcocer was born on September 11, 1926 in Peru, South America the son of Manuel Max and Esther Bolaños (Yañez) Alcocer. He married Carla Jean Forsberg on June 2, 1956 in Minneapolis, MN. Surviving are his wife, Jean Alcocer of Peoria; his children Paul Alcocer (Susan) of Safety Harbor, FL, Fred Alcocer (Michelle) of Farmington, Carmen Gibbons (James) of Edmond, OK, and Chris Alcocer of Safety Harbor, FL; nine grandchildren, Ben Alcocer, Peter Alcocer, Alexandra Stirn, Morgan Upchurch, Brette Alcocer, Carlin Alcocer, Jacob Gibbons, James Gibbons and Bridget Popham.
Dr. Alcocer began his general medical practice in Peoria in 1958. After completing an additional residency in Ear, Nose and Throat in 1967 he returned to Peoria and was the first to bring microscopic middle ear surgery to Central IL. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights. He enjoyed golf, sailing and tennis.
